RAVEN Eau de Parfum

Witty, mysterious, captivating yet imbued with a sense of humor, the Raven has held a mythic status in a variety of literature from the dark leanings of Edgar Allan Poe to the clever depictions atop Native American totem poles. This stunning peony-patchouli vies for the same complexity of character—the seduction lasts long before the first notes of mandarin and rhubarb, developing into a heady olfactive brew underlined by blond woods and liquid musks.

    First impressions aren’t everything

I’ll be honest. I ordered this as a blind buy after reading the scent notes and the reviews. I smelled it out of the bottle and immediately HATED it. Sprayed on a sticky note and let that settle for a few hours and still hated it. BUT I wasn’t ready to give up on her yet. I love Ellis Brooklyn scents and I knew I had to chance it on my skin before I totally wrote it off. Once I did… GAME CHANGER. Out of the bottle it smells like the worst combo of thrift store, old lady overpowering floral and cheap aftershave. On the skin tho… it reminds me of a midnight seance or my favorite metaphysical shop or a sexy powerful witch. It’s addictive and I cannot stop pausing to take an extra deep inhale of my wrists every time I catch a whiff. Please do yourself a favor if you’re thinking of purchasing her, try it on your skin. This will be my favorite fall scent by far.

    Dark academia/btgg in a bottle

This was a blind buy for me, but I am so glad I bought it. I read the reviews on sephora and this smells like a library managed by a forest witch meets a BTGG vampire on a hot date. There's strong patchouli and vanilla and old leather scent. I get compliments on it all of the time. And I just love it.

    moody, complex, autumnal

i blind bought a full size of this on the last chance sale. most of the EB line leans fruity floral and gourmand forward, so i didnt quite know what to expect from a fragrance that seemed so different from all the others ive smelled. upon first wear, raven is easily in my top three from EB, if not my favorite. the rhubarb and mandarin come in super bright, and after a couple minutes settle into a sharply sweet, earthy musky scent reminiscent of autumn leaves, and to some people might be a little bit challenging for a moment. but after fully drying down, it turns into a powdery, slightly vegetal, slightly sweet, dark chocolately patchouli that almost reminds me of carrot cake for some reason. it’s really gorgeous. definitely not a fragrance for summer, and i probably wouldnt recommend any more than one or two sprays for work, as it has strong projection and can feel very heavy in hot weather. however, once the weather cools off and the days get shorter and the autumn season begins, i will be wearing this fragrance every chance i get. a truly wonderful, unexpected surprise from EB, i hope they release more dark, moody, autumnal scents in the future. if you like the dark booziness and earthy sweetness of bee, give this a try. my favorite blind buy ive ever done.
